Christopher Cherney is a Berlin-based writer and director.

He makes authored documentary and narrative films that are rooted in identity and how people carry culture in their bodies.

Recent work includes Both / And, a micro-documentary on dancers navigating motherhood, commissioned by Ufer Studios, and Threading the Needle, an ongoing portrait series on artists and creative process. He is currently developing a short film for summer 2026 and a documentary exploring Filipino diaspora identity through dance.

His fiction and essays have appeared in Queen’s Quarterly, Spree Lit, and Rising Phoenix. He is the translator of Poets of Air by Spanish philosopher Raquel Ferrández, forthcoming in 2026.
He is the founder of Zembla, a director-led production company.
